Our leadership team.
Andrew Stephens – Chairman and Co-founder
Drew co-founded Griffin in 2011 with Simon Davidson. Together they shared a vision to drive change in the OTC broking world and in doing so become the leading European market place for energy.
Innovation and change have been in Drew’s core and he was the first to introduce Trayport technology to the market and has been an innovative presence in the markets ever since. Prior to founding Griffin, Drew spent fourteen years in the European energy broking industry.
Simon Davidson – Executive Director and Co-founder
Simon is a co-founder of Griffin and its Chief Executive Officer.
Before founding Griffin, Simon spent nine years in the energy broking industry where he gained significant experience of running and operating trading venues, with particular strength in technology. Previously he was a Senior Manager at Andersen’s, consulting on IT projects in their Energy and Utilities group.
Simon earned a bachelor degree from the University of Bristol, and a PhD in Engineering Geology.
Nick Jackson – Chief Executive Officer
Nick is Griffin’s Chief Executive Officer. He has worked in the energy industry for over 15 years and has been part of the Griffin team from day one.
Nick qualified as a solicitor in 1999 and worked in Dechert LLP’s London office for 8 years before moving to the energy broking industry in 2008.
He has a bachelor degree from the University of Durham.
Carlos Gutiérrez – European Managing Director
Carlos is Griffin’s Managing Director and Head of Compliance for Continental Europe. He is part of the Group’s management team and supervises activities across the entire group.
Carlos has 10 years’ experience working in various legal and compliance roles, first within the law practice before moving to the financial industry in 2017 and joining Griffin in 2024.
Carlos holds a Law Degree and master’s degrees in Financial Markets and Corporate Tax.

It allows us to integrate with Trayport in a way that creates and drives accuracy and efficiency. And it is through our technology that we are able to deliver our credit optimisation service with over €10 billion of benefits every year.
